SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Following a traffic stop, Springfield police recovered more than 300 bags of heroin and 19 grams of cocaine early Saturday morning.
According to Springfield Police Representative Ryan Walsh, around 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, officers were called to Baystate Medical Center with a report of a gunshot victim. Police found the car that dropped off the anonymous victim at the intersection of Main Street and State Street in Springfield. Authorities then reported that the unnamed driver and passenger Yasser Adil, 23, from Miami, were arrested before police discovered large amounts of drugs in the vehicle.
Following this discovery, Adil was arrested and charged with the following facts:
- Cocaine trafficking, 18-36 grams
- Possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug
- Possession with intent to dispense a Class B drug
Further investigation by medical professionals found that the injury that prompted the investigation was incompatible with a gunshot wound. The area where the individual was injured has not been discovered because the victim did not cooperate with the police.
