Allyson Felix poses in pink for Time magazine’s Women of the Year gala in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The seven-time Olympic gold medalist in track and field attended the star-studded event while posing on the pink carpet.
Felix went with an oversized pink cropped suit. The jacket had structured shoulders and a boxy layout. Below, she went with a pink headband. On the lower half, her shorts were slightly flowy and featured a high waisted design.
To anchor it all, she went with a pair of silver-tone metal strappy sandals. The shoes were about 3 inches high and had crossover straps that came up to her calves.
A former Nike athlete, Felix created her own sneaker brand, Saysh, last year.
“I didn’t realize there was such a big problem with women not being involved in the shoemaking process,” Felix said in an interview with She Knows. “As a professional runner, [to know that] the shoes I wear are not made for women, it’s crazy. How’s it going again? So it was very intentional that a woman create the shoe, that our designer be a woman. When you look on the tongue, you see Tiffany’s signature, you see Natalie Candrian, our designer’s signature. You see my signature.
In May 2019, Felix said Nike did not offer maternity protections and negotiations were needed for future generations of athletes.
“It was a really difficult experience for me. And [it was] just a really tough time in my life. I really had to get to a place where I was willing to face the consequences and speak publicly about what was going on, not for my benefit, but for the other women who were going to come after me, and I hope they would have a different experience,” said the Olympian.
The Time Women of the Year Gala highlights leading women in business, entertainment and more who champion inclusivity and fairness. This year’s list of honorees included Amal Clooney, Kerry Washington, MJ Rodriguez, Allyson Felix, Amanda Gorman, Adena Friedman, Amanda Nguyen, Jennie Joseph, Sherrilyn Ifill, Tracy Chou and Zahra Joya.
