CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) – Chesterfield County Police have arrested two people in connection with the September 2019 homicide involving a shooting and car crash against the front porch of a house in the 6200 block of Gatesgreen Drive .

According to a press release, when police arrived at the scene around 4 a.m. they found Bryson Andrew Mitchell, 18, unconscious and suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Mitchell was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.

The statement said police arrested Samira Tarabay-Whitfield, 21, for after-the-fact complicity and obstruction of justice on July 7. She is currently on bail pending a hearing in Chesterfield General District Court.

On August 19, police arrested Demetrius Roots Jr., 20, for using a firearm in the commission of a felony and for shooting at an occupied vehicle. He is being held without bond pending a preliminary appearance on August 20 at 9:30 a.m.
