Award-winning South African designer Thebe Magugu showcased her designs at Paris Fashion Week in honor of Alber Elbaz.
The grand finale of the spring / summer 2022 collections at Paris Fashion Week was an extravaganza, where at least 45 top designers presented their collections dedicated to Elbaz, who died of Covid-19 in April this year.
Elbaz was Creative Director of Lanvin until 2015. He was famous for his iconic colorful bow tie. He died at the age of 59.
The Love brings love The show was organized by AZ Factory to honor Elbaz’s legacy.
To honor the late fashion designer, Magugu has created a collection in recycled satin in pearly white color.
Regarding the collection, Magugu said: “I wanted to refer to Alber’s tenure at Guy Laroche. My tribute is a Blouse & Pleated Skirt set, created in recycled satin in pearly white color. The blouse features a fake pocket that appears to be stained with Yves Klein blue ink, a nod to the sense of humor I feel Alber’s clothes had. The pleats of the skirt feature a jagged, asymmetrical hem. The white ostrich feather hat is created in collaboration with South African milliner Crystal Birch. We will all continue to be fans of Alber and his contribution to fashion and to oneself. “
Other designers who participated in the Love brings love show Fendi, Valentino, Dior, Gucci, Balmain, Ralph Laren, Burberry, Simone Rocha, Alexander McQueen and many more.
