Nas’ weekend got off to a good start with the arrival of his Illness of King III album in collaboration with Hit-Boy. However, that joy was short-lived as on Saturday, November 12, her Calabasas home was robbed by two thieves.
Police sources broke the news to TMZ, revealing that the break-in took place around 8:30 p.m. PT last night. It was noted that the criminals apparently broke down a back door, allowing them to enter the rapper’s luxury home.
Nas’ team realized something was up thanks to a Ring camera installed on the property. As they were leaving, the “Hood2Hood” artist’s team spotted them and quickly called the police to the scene.
The thieves were long gone when cops arrived at the prolific lyricist’s home. Fortunately, he was not at home. Instead, Nas was across the country in New York, partying to celebrate the arrival of KD3.
Currently, it is not known exactly what the thieves took, or how much it was worth. All that has been confirmed is that the 49-year-old’s house has been torn up and around two bags of stuff are missing.
Since he’s still out of town, investigators must wait for Nas to return and do a proper inventory of the stolen items. No arrests have been made at this time by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
While that surely put a damper on his otherwise exciting weekend, the Illmatic the artist still has much to celebrate. Several songs from Illness of King III have made headlines, whether praising Kendrick Lamar or shading Pete Rock.
