Police are investigating after a 20-year-old woman from Manassas reported that a stranger entered her building and grabbed her from behind as she tried to open the door to her apartment.

The apartment complex is located near Balls Ford Road and Coppermine Drive.

The victim told police she was on her way to her apartment when she was approached from behind by the man who grabbed her in a bear-style hug. When she screamed, the man let go and fled the building on foot, Perok said in a press release.

The woman was not injured and no property was stolen. A K-9 police unit searched the area for the suspect, who has not been located, the statement said.

The victim told police she first observed the man in the parking lot. He pulled up in a tan-colored sedan, got out of his vehicle, and drove towards the compound. The victim then exited his vehicle and began walking towards his apartment building, according to the statement.

Police are looking for a medium-skinned man who is approximately 5ft 9in and weighs 185lbs in connection with the incident. The age of the man is not known, but he was last seen wearing gold-rimmed glasses, a gray zip-up hoodie, a black balaclava-style face mask, black sweatpants and gray and black sneakers.

Police detectives are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the police.
