Sophie Wessex’s wedge espadrilles were the real star of the show as the Countess and Prince Edward attended a Commonwealth Games event at Arena Birmingham.

During her official duties for the Commonwealth Games on Friday, the Countess of Wessex wore a perfect pair of wedge espadrilles which are the perfect look for summer.

These wedge espadrilles have been on trend for years and continue to be one of the top shoe trends of 2022 that a number of Royals are obsessed with.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been seen in very similar footwear on several occasions and has a pair of Monsoon wedge espadrilles which match Sophie’s shoe choice almost exactly.

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s sleek Castaña espadrilles are another similarly styled shoe that comes in a variety of colors and offers more support around the ankle with added straps.

Sophie Wessex’s wedge espadrilles are from designer Penelope Chilvers and cost £159.00. Although more expensive than your average espadrille, the Countess has worn them extensively and demonstrated their durability by wearing the same pair to royal events over the past few years.

In a similar anti-fast fashion move, the Countess has also been seen in the stunning blue floral Peter Pilotto dress on several occasions. At Wimbledon in 2019, the Countess was pictured wearing this dress in a dressier style as she teamed the look with a clutch, strappy sandals and her hair pulled back from her face in a chic bun.

This pale blue floral dress is another perfect summer dress, allowing the Countess to stay cool in the heat while not showing too much skin. As shown by Sophie, the dress is perfect for dressing up or down and highlighted the Countess’ unwavering fashion sense.
