At this point in fashion’s long and close relationship with the humble sneaker, it’s basically taken for granted that the sporty silhouette is a staple in every stylish person’s closet. A slew of the best new sneakers are released each season before the fashion set decides on a particular pair to obsess over for a few months. Options from New Balance and Nike have reigned supreme in the past, but this summer it’s all about the Adidas Samba.
The Samba, which comes in White and Black colourways, is a departure from the chunky trainers that have grown in popularity in recent years. Technically a cycling shoe, the low-profile pick is easy to style thanks in part to its simplicity. The white iteration has for sure become one of the coolest white sneakers of the season, as proven by the fact that it’s almost still sold out on the Adidas website and has been a mainstay on my Instagram and Pinterest feeds lately. However, I’m happy to report that the black version remains in stock and has also been gaining momentum over the past few weeks. Personally, I own a pair of black Sambas and I wear mine in almost constant rotation. One note: I’ve found that they tend to be chunky, so think about that before you buy a pair for yourself.
One of the latest celebs to be spotted in the viral sneaker is Kendall Jenner, who styled her black pair with a matching multicolored pastel shorts set while out in Los Angeles. The model accessorized her casual ensemble with a coordinating oversized leather tote bag and a pair of high-back sunglasses.
Another early adopter of the black Samba is Bella Hadid, who has incorporated the shoe into her street style since late March 2022. Since then, Bella has styled her sneakers in a number of ways. Most notably, she wore them with a plaid pencil skirt, blue sweatshirt, and white socks. However, she’s also been known to follow Jenner’s lead and style them more casually, opting for wide-leg jeans and a simple gray crop top. Harry Styles, for his part, also wore a number of colorful Adidas Samba options on his last world tour, proving their genderless appeal.
The advantage of black sneakers like these is that they can very easily adapt to the rest of our style as autumn and winter approach. Jenner and Hadid’s recent outfits prove that Adidas Sambas work just as well with shorts as they do with lots of layers and longer hems.
Plus, like all of the best loafers or ankle boots currently in our footwear collections, a pair of simple, classic black trainers like the Sambas are easily worn with any number of cold-weather essentials, like pants. custom work. or a chic black skirt. The Sambas themselves are priced from $75 to $130 and can be purchased below on the Adidas website. Keep scrolling to shop the white and black options here.
