It’s been a busy week for hip-hop entertainer and songwriter Cormega, who has released a new single, “Essential,” produced by Havoc. In addition to officially announcing the release of his long-awaited next album, Reality II, he unveiled a billboard in Times Square! New music isn’t the only thing he’s gearing up for. The proud parent of two is also preparing the children of Queensbridge and their families to return to school!

On Sunday, August 21 from 1-3 p.m., Cormega partnered with Adidas to distribute FREE Adidas book bags to hundreds of children outside the Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement aka Queensbridge Community Center at 10-25 41st Ave , Queens, NY 11101. For the past four years, Cormega has been quietly donating backpacks and school supplies to children in the community. This year, he welcomed families sharing publicly, “I came to Queensbridge as Cory, and Queensbridge made me Cormega!GB NY Sneaker Boutique and Riis Settlement Center, joined as sponsors of the FREE family event which included a free vegan pizza from Krave It NY Pizza, ice cream and of course music!

Cormega gave back to Queensbridge Projects long before they recorded their first record. Hiphopdx.com wrote an exclusive story in 2002 about an all-fresh trip that took several busloads of people to Six Flags Great Adventures amusement park in New Jersey.

I usually sponsor basketball tournaments, but wanted to do something more to impact families, especially in times of inflation. For three years I bought whatever was available, bags of books, school supplies, clothes and gave them to the children of Queensbridge. Some children have book bags with flowers and stars. This year, we switched to Adidas schoolbags! It was cool to partner with a brand that kids and their parents respect,” shares Cormega. “I am grateful to everyone – Adidas, GBNY, Riis, Krave It, the ice cream parlor – who have joined together to help prepare the children for their return to school!”
